Terms of Service
Effective date: 1st May, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Splitr ("Splitr", "the App", "we", "us", or "our"), operated by Clyde Forth Labs.
By creating an account or using Splitr, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the App.
1. About Splitr
Splitr is a bill-splitting and shared expense management app designed to help users create groups, manage shared bills, track payment responsibilities, create reminders, upload proof of payment, and manage group memberships.
Splitr is intended to help organise and record shared expenses. We do not provide banking, lending, debt collection, legal, accounting, or financial advice.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Splitr. If you are under the age of majority in your country, you must have permission from a parent or guardian.
By using Splitr, you confirm that:
- You can legally enter into these Terms
- The information you provide is accurate
- You will use the App only for lawful purposes
- You will not use the App to harass, defraud, threaten, or abuse others
3. Accounts
To use Splitr, you need to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
You must notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
We may suspend or restrict access to your account if we reasonably believe your account has been misused, compromised, or used in breach of these Terms.
4. Groups and Bills
Splitr allows users to create and join groups, create bills, assign bill splits, manage group memberships, and track payment-related activity.
You are responsible for ensuring that any bills, amounts, group member details, payment records, and uploaded proof of payment are accurate.
Splitr does not verify whether a bill is genuine, whether a user has paid, or whether a person legally owes another person money. Any payment disputes are between the relevant users.
5. Reminders and Notifications
Splitr may allow you to create custom reminders and receive bill-related notifications.
Reminders are provided for convenience only. We do not guarantee that reminders will always be delivered, accurate, timely, or uninterrupted. You remain responsible for managing your own bills and payments.
6. User Content
You may upload, submit, or create content in the App, including but not limited to:
- Profile photos
- Group information
- Bill details
- Payment notes
- Proof of payment images or files
- Feedback
- Support tickets
This is referred to as "User Content".
You retain ownership of your User Content. By submitting User Content to Splitr, you grant us a limited licence to store, process, display, and transmit that content as needed to provide, maintain, secure, and improve the App.
You must not upload or submit content that:
- Is unlawful, fraudulent, misleading, or abusive
- Infringes someone else's rights
- Contains sensitive personal information about others without permission
- Contains malware, harmful code, or attempts to interfere with the App
- Is sexually explicit, hateful, discriminatory, threatening, or harassing
We may remove or restrict access to User Content if we reasonably believe it breaches these Terms or creates legal, security, or safety risks.
7. Proof of Payment
Proof of payment uploads are provided to help group members record or evidence payments.
You should avoid uploading documents that contain unnecessary sensitive information. For example, where possible, you should avoid uploading full bank statements, full card numbers, account numbers, or unrelated personal information.
We are not responsible for resolving disputes about whether uploaded proof is valid, genuine, complete, or sufficient.
8. Group Memberships
Group owners or authorised users may be able to invite, remove, or manage group members.
If you are removed from a group, you may lose access to that group's data, bills, reminders, and uploaded content, subject to our data retention and legal obligations.
Group changes may affect how shared bills are displayed or managed. Users are responsible for reviewing bill splits and payment records when membership changes occur.
9. Subscriptions and Paid Features
Splitr may offer optional paid subscriptions or premium features.
Subscription purchases made through Apple's App Store, Google Play, RevenueCat, or another payment provider are subject to the terms, billing rules, cancellation rules, and refund policies of the relevant provider.
Unless stated otherwise:
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
- Deleting your Splitr account or deleting the App may not automatically cancel your subscription
- You must manage cancellation through the platform where you purchased the subscription
We may change, add, or remove paid features from time to time. Where required, we will provide appropriate notice.
10. Feedback and Support
You may submit feedback or support tickets through the App.
By submitting feedback, you allow us to use it to improve Splitr without restriction or compensation to you. We are not required to implement any feedback.
We aim to respond to support requests where reasonable, but we do not guarantee response times unless required by law.
11. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use Splitr for unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purposes
- Attempt to access another user's account or data without permission
- Interfere with the App's security, operation, or infrastructure
- Reverse engineer, copy, scrape, or misuse the App
- Upload malicious files or code
- Impersonate another person
- Create false bills, fake payment records, or misleading proof of payment
- Use the App to harass, pressure, shame, or abuse others
12. Account Deletion
You may request account deletion through the App.
Deleting your account may remove or anonymise personal data associated with your account, subject to legal, security, fraud-prevention, accounting, backup, and legitimate business requirements.
Some content may remain visible to other users where it is part of shared group records, bill history, audit logs, or other collaborative records. Where appropriate, we may anonymise or detach your personal identity from that content.
13. Availability and Changes to the App
We aim to keep Splitr available and reliable, but we do not guarantee that the App will always be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or available.
We may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the App at any time.
14. Third-Party Services
Splitr may rely on third-party providers for services such as authentication, cloud hosting, file storage, analytics, crash reporting, payments, subscriptions, notifications, and customer support.
We are not responsible for third-party services outside our control, but we will use reasonable care when selecting providers.
15. Disclaimers
Splitr is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, reliability, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Splitr does not guarantee that:
- Bills or balances are accurate
- Users will pay what they owe
- Uploaded proof of payment is genuine
- Reminders will always be delivered
- Disputes between users will be resolved
16. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for:
- Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses
- Loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, data, or opportunity
- Disputes between users
- Inaccurate bill entries or payment records
- Missed reminders or notifications
- Unauthorised access caused by your failure to secure your account
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation.
17. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to Splitr if you breach these Terms, misuse the App, create risk for other users, or where required for legal or security reasons.
You may stop using Splitr at any time and may request account deletion through the App.
18. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of The United Kingdom.
The courts of The United Kingdom will have jurisdiction, unless consumer protection laws in your country require otherwise.
